that's me

well, actually, it's not. i've been plankton for many years before spongebob was a part of the world. back when i was a kid i thought it would be really cool to name a kid plankton. i also thought it would be neat to name another kid lichen. but before that ever happens i decided to attach plankton to myself, perhaps as a trial run. it's probably a good thing i'm not looking to have any kids in the immediate future, eh? hopefully if/when that ever happens i will have grown out of this desire and not transfer the name on to a new generation.

anyone care to explain where their LJ name comes from?

i'm wicked excited to have a nice and comfy new couch for the apartment. anyone who saw my last one will understand why.

mine is the traditional spelling of my name, as well as that of a pagan goddess who was appropriated into christianity when they took over ireland. brigid is the goddess of inspiration and fertility. neither of those things are particularly important to me, but i've always liked my namesake.

[livejournal.com profile] arcanus started addressing me in emails as brigid, when i told him about the whole spelling/goddess thing.

I was wickedly uncreative. Part of it is to mesh all of the parts of my life into a unitary whole which is why I go by my real name on LJ, when I DJ, or when I publish academic work.

I was named Frederic after my great grandfather Fabius who died shortly before I was born. My LJ name would've been Fern had I been born a girl which is akin to Lichen I guess. I probably would've had a cool goth/hippy name after I suffered tremendously as a kid.

Have you heard the F.U.N. song from Spongebob? Plankton's part goes:

F is for fire, burning down buildings
U is for uraninium bombs!
N is for no survivors....

(at this point Spongebob interrupts him and tells him that these things are not fun at all.)

as for my name, my ex Dolores always accused me of being grim, which was funny considering I was a lot happier than she was...perhaps she was projecting. Anyway, I like to muddle up "grim" and "gruff", which reminds me of the Sea Captain on the Simpsons (yaaaaar!), hence captain grim.

that couch looks awesome.

whatever happened to that link i sent you a million years ago to use as your icon? you may as well admit that you were using divination to rip mr squarepants off.

My name means nothing. It's like cornflakes, without the milk.

man cornflakes even with the milk is still nothing.

the spongebob pic came from a photoshop on fark a couple days ago. but yeah, if i knew plankton was so cool, i would have referenced the character long ago...

My LJ name is one I have been using for a couple years as a joke but it kinda stuck. A lot of friends and co-workers call me 'mookie'. When signing up for some online game service (MSN or something) I couldn't get the name mookie so I tried the '1337 spelling' version which was m00k13.

It just kinda stuck and now I feel really clever...

it all stems back to middle school (1979?)...

in a growly death metal-ish voice:

natas ma i, natas ma i - ytima, ytima!!!
From: [identity profile] plankton.livejournal.com
i'm imagining it more in an evil dead voice... but forgive my ignorance, but how does one say 'ytima'? ee-tee-ma?
From: [identity profile] ytima.livejournal.com
i say it more of an "ee-tim-ahhhhh" since i usually say my name "aa-mit-ee." and yeah, you could definitely say it in an evil dead voice. can i listen?

*smooches!*
